Membership is limited to one per individual and is also limited to one per household. Multiple individual entries across multiple email accounts are prohibited and subject to immediate cancellation, and will render void all HIpoints or any cash incentives due. Harris Poll Online membership is specific to the one individual with a unique e-mail address, and to the individual who registered and completed the demographic and other profile information sections. HIpoints and any other rewards are awarded to individual members and are not transferable. HIpoints are not considered to be property and therefore cannot be sold, transferred, or assigned to another member or individual under any circumstances.
You, as a member of Harris Poll Online, agree to provide true and accurate information during the registration process, while filling out demographic profile information and other general details, and while answering survey research questionnaires. If you provide any information that is untrue, inaccurate or not current to Harris or one of its agents, or if Harris or one of it agents has reasonable grounds to suspect such information is untrue, inaccurate or not current, Harris has the right to terminate your membership and refuse any and all current or future access to, or use of the Harris Poll Online site, including the immediate forfeiture of any HIpoints and other rewards or prizes.
You agree as a member to promptly notify Harris of any changes in personal and other information including but not limited to name, mailing address, phone number, e-mail address, and demographic information by updating such information on the Harris Poll Online website.
Members agree to abide by and not abuse their benefits and privileges as Harris Poll Online members. Such abuses include, but are not limited to attempts to earn HIpoints or redeem HIpoints in any manner that conflicts with the intent of these terms or conditions, or the terms and conditions of the HIpoints program. Other examples include any fraudulent methods for earning points or other incentives, redeeming or purchasing points, tampering with surveys or links.
You agree to maintain your password and other information confidential to prevent unauthorized use of your account. It's also your responsibility to notify us of any improper uses of your account. Members are solely responsible for any loss of points or other fraudulent activities associated with sharing your password.
We may immediately issue a warning, temporarily suspend, indefinitely suspend or terminate your membership, if you breach this Agreement or if we are unable to verify or authenticate any information you provide to us.
By becoming a member of Harris Poll Online, you agree that you will hold in strict confidence and not disclose to any other parties information learned in connection with any survey, project, questionnaire or other market research activity (each a, "Research Activity") related to Harris Poll Online. You agree you will use the information contained in any Research Activity strictly for the purpose of discussing and providing market research related data to Harris or its agents. You shall notify the SurveyHelp Desk should you discover any loss or unauthorized disclosure of the information. The kind of information you may learn in connection with a Research Activity includes trade secrets, proprietary information, media content, unique techniques, sketches, drawings, works of authorship, models, inventions, know-how, research, experimental work, development, design details and specifications, sales and merchandising plans and other information provided relating to third parties.
Membership is voluntary and may be terminated at will. There is no obligation or requirement to remain a member of Harris Poll Online. You may terminate your membership, by logging in and going through the 'Unsubscribe' process, clicking on and completing the remove-me link at the end of each e-mail survey invitation, or by contacting us directly (see Contact Us). Any accrued HIpoints or other pending rewards are forfeited the moment you cancel your membership with Harris Poll Online. Harris Poll Online members may not earn HIpoints after cancellation.
Without limiting any other remedies, Harris may suspend or terminate your Harris Interactive membership, cancel your HIpoints account, eliminate the HIpoints you have accumulated, or any of the foregoing, in Harris Interactive's sole discretion, if you fail to abide by the terms and conditions set forth herein or participate in any other conduct that is detrimental to Harris Interactive or the Harris Interactive community. Harris Interactive shall be the sole determiner in cases of suspected abuse, fraud, or violation of its rules and any decision it makes relating to termination of membership (including cancellation of HIpoints) shall be final and binding.
If the email address you used for registering with the Harris Poll Online no longer accepts emails from Harris Interactive (bounce backs, auto-replies), your Harris Poll Online account will immediately be canceled and your HIpoints will be forfeited.
Harris Interactive also reserves the right to terminate your membership if it is "inactive", meaning that you have not participated in a Research Activity for a period of twelve (12) months. Upon your account becoming "inactive," all HIpoints will be immediately forfeited.
Should you object to these terms and conditions, or any subsequent modifications thereto, or become dissatisfied with the Harris Poll Online program, your only recourse is to immediately discontinue participation in the program and terminate your membership.

Personal Information is any information that is identifiable with you. Personal Information may include, but is not limited to, your name, date of birth, gender, mailing address, phone number, email address, identification numbers and, in certain circumstances, your opinions and individual preferences. Personal Information, however, does not include your name, business title, business address, business telephone number, business fax, or business email in your capacity as an employee of an organization, or, depending upon the jurisdiction, publicly available information. However, if you participate in Research Activities in your capacity as an employee of an organization, your responses will not be identified to you without your consent.
We always will collect your Personal Information by fair and lawful means. For instance, we collect Personal Information from Panel Members when they register for a Panel, non-Panel Members when they participate in Research Activities ("Non-Panel Participants"), and other users of our Websites ("Site Users") when they request information regarding our products and services. We also obtain e-mail addresses of prospective Panel Members and Non-Panel Participants from providers of address lists who have assured us that such lists are comprised of individuals who have consented to be listed. Further, we may receive your email address from a third party if you indicate to the third party that you would like to join one of our Panels. In such case, we will send you a link to our registration page so that you can join the applicable Panel.
We may use your Personal Information (i) to contact you and communicate with you about your Panel membership and/or your participation in Research Activities, (ii) to conduct Research Activities with you and provide you with the results of such Research Activities, (iii) to validate answers you provide us in connection with your participation in Research Activities, (iv) to notify you about new features on our Websites, or other products or services that we think you may be interested in, (v) to administer and manage our incentives programs and fulfill your requests for incentives, (vi) to allow you to participate in sweepstakes and to notify you if you are a sweepstakes winner, (vii) to update our records of your information, (viii) to provide service and support to you, (ix) to verify the integrity of submitted information, and (x) as otherwise permitted by law or authorized by you.
We may maintain your Personal Information in order to satisfy your requests and/or our business requirements. For instance, we may retain the email address of persons who opted out, or requested to be removed from, one of our Panels in order to ensure that we conform to such wish.
If you elect to register for one of our Panels and/or participate in Research Activities, we also may collect certain demographic information about you, including, without limitation, your income level, interests, hobbies, and product/technology usage. We collect this information so that we can invite you to participate in Research Activities that correspond with your interests and/or background. We also use this information to ensure that our Panel Members and Non-Panel Participants meet the demographic requirements for each Research Activity.
Additionally, we may automatically collect a variety of machine readable information about you and/or use certain technologies when you participate in certain Research Activities, as discussed below.
For Panel Members, not only is it important that you be able to correct or update information you provide to us, it is important to us as well. The results from our public studies (which report aggregate, non-identifiable information) often get reported by the media. We encourage Panel Members to keep their account profiles up-to-date, which can be done on the applicable Panel Website or by contacting us here, so that we continue to have accurate demographic information behind our results. For other Panel Members, Non-Panel Participants, and Site Users, you may correct or update any information that you have provided to us by contacting us here.
For Panel Members, you may terminate your membership in a Panel by filling out a request on the Member Services section here. For Panel Members of the Harris Poll OnlineSM Panel, you also may terminate your membership in such Panel by filling out a request on the Member Services section at www.harrispollonline.com. If you opt-out of any of our Panels, we will retain your information in our "unsubscribe" database for that Panel to ensure that we do not send you emails in the future inviting you to participate in Research Activities involving that Panel.
For Non-Panel Participants and Site Users, if you would like to be removed from our contact list, please contact us here.
We have security measures in place on our Websites that are designed to prevent the loss, misuse, and alteration of the information under our custody or control. We will not activate a prospective Panel Member's account without confirmation. Once the registration process is completed, the prospective Panel Member will be sent an email that requests confirmation of registration. The account will not be activated until confirmation is received. Additionally, all Panel Members are required to use their passwords and usernames when registering, updating their contact information, or accessing "members only" sections of our Websites. If a Panel Member cannot remember his or her password, he or she can send a message to the Panel Website’s Help Desk to retrieve it. To protect the security of our Panel Members' contact information, requests to retrieve passwords must include certain information to allow us to verify the Panel Member's identity.
We maintain commercially reasonable technical, administrative, and physical safeguards to protect against unauthorized access to or unauthorized alteration, disclosure, or destruction of Personal Information. Additionally, only those authorized employees, contractors, and agents who have a need to know Personal Information in connection with the performance of their services are allowed to access this information. In addition, these individuals and or entities are required to be bound by confidentiality obligations and may be subject to disciplinary actions, including termination and criminal prosecution, if they fail to meet their confidentiality obligations. Your Personal Information may be collected, stored, processed, used, and transferred by Harris Interactive affiliated companies or non-affiliated service providers in one or more countries outside your originating country. By using our Websites, becoming a Panel Member, or participating in Research Activities, you freely and specifically consent to the transfer, storage, use, and disclosure of your Personal Information among our affiliated companies and non-affiliated service providers, wherever located. I received a letter or saw a classified ad for mystery shopping or a quality assurance study that said Harris/Decima was hosting the study. Is this legitimate?
Please disregard letters and classified advertisements that promise fast cash and free gifts from Harris Interactive or any of our affiliates (such as Harris/Decima) in exchange for performing mystery shopping or quality assurance studies. These letters and classified advertisements are scams!
Neither Harris Interactive nor any of its affiliates ever conducts mystery shopping or quality assurance studies that require you to cash checks or wire us money.
Please notify us at the Survey Help Desk if you are contacted by someone claiming to be a representative of Harris Interactive or any of its affiliates regarding an offer to receive cash for depositing a check and/or wiring us money in connection with a mystery shopping or quality assurance study. Do not deposit the check into your bank account or wire money.
Please visit the website of the Mystery Shopping Providers Association in order to find further information about these scams and steps you should take to avoid becoming a victim of these scams. Further, the Federal Trade Commission has issued a warning about these scams.
If we have no available opportunities for you, please try again the next day. Our inventory of open surveys is always changing so don’t be discouraged if we cannot find something for you every time you visit.
In order to increase your chances of being selected for an open survey, we now ask you a series of preliminary questions. These questions help us match you to an open survey we have available. There are no rewards offered for answering these questions but they do help you qualify for open surveys. Once we locate a suitable survey then you’ll be quickly directed to the first page of that survey where you will be given details on the length and the rewards for qualifying and completing that survey.
In order to increase the number of surveys we have available for our members, we now provide the opportunity to our panelists to participate in surveys conducted by a select group of research companies who have been carefully vetted by our team to make sure they meet our design and quality standards.
Any further questions related to this can be directed to the Survey Help Desk.
We target several groups in our surveys, each with unique characteristics, so that we may compare and contrast the similarities and differences between them. In order for us to conduct valid analysis, we place quotas on the groups we are targeting. Since some of the groups share common traits, these particular quotas fill up quickly. Unfortunately, we are often unable to determine who will fall into these categories until after we ask several preliminary questions. For this reason, we are unable to inform you of the quota status until after you have answered some questions. Members who are directed to but do not qualify for a survey will receive a HIstakes entry and 15 HIpoints for their time. Plus, you also will be offered the opportunity to try and qualify for another survey if we have any available at that time. Please note that you may need to answer more preliminary questions to help locate another survey for you.
Although we now ask you a series of preliminary questions to better match you to an open survey, we cannot guarantee that you will be able to complete every survey we direct you into. The good news is you will receive an entry into HIstakes and 15 HIpoints if you are directed to but do not qualify for a survey. Plus, you also will be offered the opportunity to try and qualify for another survey if we have any available at that time. Please note that you may need to answer more preliminary questions to help locate another survey for you.
We do our best to avoid asking you repetitive questions. If you feel that you are seeing the same questions every time you visit, please check your Internet privacy settings. Our surveys use Internet cookies to “remember” what you have told us in the past and learn more about who you are. If your browser settings are set to private browsing or to erase your cookies, we will need to re-collect this information each time you visit us.
Even with proper settings enabled, we may need to re-ask some questions multiple times. Although it may seem frustrating, there are valid reasons for this, including:
Some of our research requires that we word a question in a very specific way, forcing us to re-collect information we already know about you.
Some of our research requires that we re-collect all survey information directly in the survey; even if we have already just collected it in our preliminary questions.
Although these cases may lead to repetition in your experience, we ask that you be patient and understand that you are helping us provide top quality results to our clients.
We encourage you to take a survey whenever you receive an invitation. We value each panel member's opinion. Choosing not to participate in a survey will not affect your membership.
Our surveys take anywhere from 5 to 25 minutes. We try to keep the surveys to a maximum of 15 to 20 minutes. This time may vary depending on the speed of your Internet connection or browser.
Harris Interactive conducts research using a variety of methods, ranging from online surveys and focus groups (chat room style or bulletin board style), telephone and direct mail to in person focus groups and personal interviews. We will also periodically offer our members the opportunity to participate in research that requires software to be downloaded to your computer or mobile phone. These special activities are completely optional but offer a great new way to provide your opinions and earn more rewards.
Our Survey Help Desk will be very happy to answer any questions you may have and they will listen to any suggestions or comments. Questions or comments about the design or content of specific surveys will then be forwarded to that survey's project manager. We value your feedback, as we continually try to improve the quality of our surveys and your survey-taking experience. We invite you to visit the Survey Help Desk and share your feedback.
In appreciation for your participation in our surveys, we will award you HIpoints every time you complete select surveys that offer HIpoints. Once you've accumulated enough HIpoints, you may redeem them for rewards.
Almost all of our surveys offer both HIpoints and a HIstakes sweepstakes entry as an incentive to participate. Once you have been selected for a survey, you will be told what the reward will be if you qualify for and successfully complete.
If you are directed to but do not qualify for a survey, you will receive an entry into HIstakes and 15 HIpoints. All rewards will be credited within 24 hours of your participation.
It can take up to 24 hours for your HIpoints to be reflected in your account. If this time frame has passed you can contact the Survey Help Desk to research your concern. In order to best assist you, we will need to know the approximate time you took the survey, the topic of the survey, and if you saw a confirmation page upon completing the survey that confirmed your reward.
If you experience difficulty when attempting to redeem, you may wish to try another browser to see whether that helps. (Some of our members using Google Chrome have indicated having difficulty redeeming while using that browser.)
Another issue some have experienced is that the shipping verification section does not respond to an auto-fill application. It populates, but does not accept this information.
You control how and when you redeem your HIpoints. You can choose to redeem all of your HIpoints, just some of your HIpoints, or you can continue to accumulate them for later use.
Please allow 15 business days for processing and delivery of your redemption. They will be sent electronically via email.
All costs for the rewards (including shipping and handling) are covered by Harris Poll Online. There are no hidden costs. You do not have to pay anything to receive your rewards! Please note, however, that panel members are responsible for shipping charges on merchandise ordered online via gift card redemptions.
Harris Poll Online panel members who are 13 years of age or older are eligible to participate in HIpoints.
Yes, ALL of your HIpoints will expire if your account remains inactive for a 12 month period. This means you must complete at least 1 survey or other research activity every 12 months to keep your account active. In addition, once your account goes inactive, we cannot restore it and you will no longer receive survey invites from us.
Unfortunately, we occasionally experience technical problems with our servers or surveys. From time to time, our servers may become overloaded when too many people try to access a survey at the same time. If you can't access a survey or it takes too long to complete a particular survey, you can always exit and finish the survey at a later time.
If you are experiencing a technical problem, please feel free to contact the Survey Help Desk. The Survey Help Desk will determine what the problem is and help you access the survey, or, at least, explain what is happening.
You will receive an invitation when there are surveys available. After answering a few preliminary questions, we will be able to determine if there is a survey available for you. There may be times when there are no surveys available based on the answers you have given to these questions. We encourage you to try again the next day as our survey inventory is constantly changing.
To combat SPAM, many mail servers and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) use high-tech filtering devices to ensure that you receive as little or no SPAM as possible. We know how annoying SPAM can be, and we support efforts made to reduce SPAM. However, some legitimate email that you want to receive, like our survey invitations, may be mistakenly flagged as SPAM and never make it to your mailbox.
To make sure you continue to receive survey invitations, please add HarrisPoll@hpolsurveys.com to your list of trusted senders. In order to do this, we have provided simple instructions for each mail provider below.
